We understand how expensive holidays are during the school holiday periods and that many of our parents work in a seasonal industry. Unfortunately, we cannot ever authorise holidays for the children in school time even if it is just for one day. We never let our staff have time off during term time to take advantage of cheaper holiday prices.
Absences during term time may result in a Fixed Penalty Notice being issued by the Local Authority in respect of this. Section 7 of the Education Act 1996, places upon parents a duty to ensure that their child receives efficient full time education by regular attendance at school or otherwise. Where a child is a registered pupil at school and the parent fails to ensure that the child’s regular attendance at school the parent is liable to be prosecuted for a criminal offence under section 44 of the Education Act.
